Q: I've been diagnosed with yeast infections before, but this is the first time I have used an OTC treatment-- the Monistat 1-day day or night insertion. About 24 hours after application, the capsule seems to be dissolving and leaking out. Is this normal? Will it still be effective?

A: You can expect some leakage for up to 3 days after completion of treatment. For best results, lie down as soon as possible after inserting the product. This will reduce leakage. To protect your clothing, you may want to use deodorant-free minipads or panty shields while you are using MONISTAT®. When using Monistat® as instructed, your symptoms should improve in 3 days and you should be completely cured in 7 days. On average, most women should experience some improvement within three days and complete relief within seven days. This is the same, whether you use a 1- dose product, 3-day product or a 7-day product. We recommend that you contact your doctor if your symptoms do not improve in 3 days or if you still have symptoms after 7 days.
